The mereology of thermodynamic equilibrium

چکیده
The special composition question (SCQ), which asks under conditions objects compose a further object, establishes central debate in modern metaphysics. Recent successes of inductive metaphysics, studies the implications natural sciences for metaphysical problems, suggest that insights into SCQ can be gained by investigating physics composite systems. In this work, I show minus first law thermodynamics, is concerned with approach to equilibrium, leads new SCQ, thermodynamic principle (TCP): Multiple systems (generalized) thermal contact single system. This principle, justified based on systematic classification possible mereological models systems, form basis an argument universalism. A formal analysis TCP provided mereotopology, combination mereology and topology. Here, "thermal contact" analyzed using mereotopological predicate "self-connectedness". Self-connectedness has defined terms sums ensure scattered cannot self-connected.

Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium for the Ternary Systems of Solvent+ m/o/p-Cresol+Water: Thermodynamic Modeling
In this study, NRTL and UNIQUAC thermodynamic models were used to predict the composition of ternary mixtures of solvents+ m/o/p-cresol+ water in organic and aqueous phases. Various solvents are used for the separation of cresols from water. In this study, methyl propyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl butyl ketone, and methyl isobutyl ketone solvents were investigated. Intermolecular in...
متن کاملMereology and Rough Mereology: Rough Mereological Granulation
In this chapter, we embark on a more specific granulation theory, stemming from the mereological theory of things. This mechanism provides us with tolerance and weak tolerance relations forming a graded similarity in the sense of Chap.1 and with resulting therefrom granules. To put the necessary notions in a proper order, we are going to discuss mereology, rough mereology and the mereological g...
متن کاملTemperature of systems out of thermodynamic equilibrium.
Two phenomenological approaches are currently used in the study of the vitreous state. One is based on the concept of fictive temperature introduced by Tool [J. Res. Natl. Bur. Stand. 34, 199 (1945)] and recently revisited by Nieuwenhuizen [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 5580 (1998)]. The other is based on the thermodynamics of irreversible processes initiated by De Donder at the beginning of the last ce...
متن کاملFar-from-equilibrium measurements of thermodynamic length.
Thermodynamic length is a path function that generalizes the notion of length to the surface of thermodynamic states. Here, we show how to measure thermodynamic length in far-from-equilibrium experiments using the work fluctuation relations. For these microscopic systems, it proves necessary to define the thermodynamic length in terms of the Fisher information. Consequently, the thermodynamic l...
متن کاملContext Mereology
We show that under a small number of assumptions, it is possible to interpret truth in a context as a quantification over truth in 'atomic' or pointlike contexts, which are transparent to all the connectives. We discuss the necessary assumptions and suggest conditions under which they are intuitively reasonable. Introduction This note is inspired by the context logic originally introduced by J....
